Be aware that if you ever need to rerun the configure script, you first

should run 'make distclean'.

Or, to place the configuration file in /etc/ and the runtime state

files in /var/proftpd/, you would use:

$ ./configure --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var

'./configure --help

./configure --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin

./configure --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var

./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var
